Alternatively referred to as the SC242 (Slot connector 242 pins), Slot 1 is an interface introduced by Intel in 1997. It was used to connect the Intel Celeron, Pentium II, and Pentium III processors to the computer like an expansion card. Although Slot 1 did make it easier to install a processor, they were more expensive and are no longer used in new computers. Below is a picture of what a Slot 1 looks like on the motherboard.
